How can chiropractic help?
First, let’s define what migraine is. The Mayo Clinic describes it as, “Severe throbbing pain or a pulsating sensation, usually on one side of the head. It is often accompanied by nausea, vomiting and extreme sensitivity to light and sound. Migraine attacks can last from hours to days, and the pain can be so severe that it interferes with your daily activities. ” This sounds rather debilitating, and it can be. Many people have found that they cannot concentrate at work and that it can even affect their relationships, whether with family or friends.
So how do we solve this?
There are some essential questions we should ask ourselves when someone has migraines so that we can address the cause of the pain.
1
When do you notice that the migraine starts?
Typically migraines that start first thing in the morning could be a result of position of sleep. How? Well when your sleeping on your stomach with your neck turned to one side that can place a significant amount of pressure on the vertebral artery and moderately reduce blood flow to the brain. The sustained position of this can trigger migraines.
2
Do you experience different temperature changes during the day and does the migraine correlate with this?
When this happens, one reason may be that temperature changes the vasodilation and vasoconstriction of the arteries responsible for triggering migraines. So pay attention next time and learn from the environment you place your body in.

3) Do you have a stressful life or stress from work?
Mental stress is a big problem. If you have suffered constant stress from your work or from your family, the body begins to release more cortisone. This secretion of cortisone is the body’s mechanism to respond to “stressful situations,” such as if you were to encounter a lion in the wild, for example. With the presence of cortisone, your blood sugar levels rise to provide access to energy to run away from the stressor. However, in this case, when the stress persists, we do not get a good response, and the body begins to increase inflammatory responses that can be detrimental to bodily functions and make us more susceptible to migraines.
In addition to these three factors, there are many other possible factors.
